Rules, Safety, and Guidelines

Livestock

Approximately 50 livestock animals, including but not limited to horses, donkeys, mules, cattle, livestock guardian dogs, and alpacas call the Western Diamond home at any given time, and they require respect.

  • For their safety, and for yours, please do not feed any of the animals without the direct permission and company of a Western Diamond Ranch hand.
  • Never enter a corral or enclosure without a Western Diamond Ranch hand and their direct permission.
  • Never attempt to ride any animal without a Western Diamond Ranch hand or without making proper arrangements for a horseback ride. Not every horse is rideable for various reasons, and our other stock are not riding animals. If you wish to ride, arrangements for horseback rides can be made with a Western Diamond Ranch hand.
  • For the health of our horses each riding horse has a weight limit appropriate for their size and age. Our largest riding horse has a 250lb rider weight limit. Please be honest and do not ride if you are over the limit for one of the horses.
  • Closed-toe shoes are required for all livestock activities, including activities with horses, donkeys, mules, alpacas, cattle, or other livestock that may be present at the ranch. Riding boots (either a cowboy or an equestrian boot) with a 1-3 inch heel AND an ASTM/SEI approved, securely fitting, equestrian helmet are required for all riding activities. You will need to provide yourself with these items if you wish to participant in those activities.
  • A signed equine activity waiver will be required for all participants in horse activities.
  • If you are not comfortable riding or cannot ride for any reason, on-the-ground activities with the horses are available.
  • Anyone who harasses or harms any animals at the Western Diamond Ranch will have their guest status immediately and permanently revoked and no refunds will be made for past, present, or future stays or activities.

Equipment

Ranches, like ours, frequently use equipment such as but not limited to skid-steers, loaders, excavators, ATVs, and tractors. This means that there will be equipment onsite.

  • Never climb on, enter, start, or operate any piece of equipment without direct permission and direction of a Western Diamond Ranch equipment operator.  Please do not play around or on any equipment, even if it is not in operation.
  • When a piece of equipment is in operation, stay at least 50ft away at all times unless directed otherwise by the operator or a Western Diamond Ranch hand. It is your responsibility to keep yourself  out of the way of equipment and machinery in operation.

Wildlife Safety

The Western Diamond Ranch is home to a multitude of native wildlife species. While observing our beautiful wildlife is encouraged, never chase, harass, or feed the wildlife. Please keep distance between yourself and wildlife. It is your responsibility to keep yourself safe and limit interactions with the wildlife.

Pets and Service Animals

For the safety of our animals and the wildlife, we have a zero-tolerance no pets policy.  ADA compliant service animals are brought to the premises at the sole risk of the animal's owner and we ask that service animal owners contact us prior to booking so that reasonable accommodations can be made.

  • Service animals are not permitted inside of corrals or enclosures at any time to maintain safety of all humans and animals. Service animals must be accompanied by the animal's owner, or an adult accompanying the animal's owner at all times. If you need accommodations because of a service dog, contact us prior to booking so that we can make the reasonable accommodations needed.
  • Any animal that is not housebroken or is unruly must be removed from the premises and the animal's owner will be responsible for all damages including but not limited to the materials, time, and labor spent on repairs, and for the lost revenue caused by the damages and repair times.
  • Any animal that chases, harasses, is aggressive towards, or attacks another animal or a human on the Western Diamond Ranch will be deemed an imminently dangerous animal and will be stopped and removed by any means necessary. The owner of the uncontrolled animal will be responsible for any and all damages resulting from the uncontrolled animal. There is absolutely no tolerance for any undue stress or harm caused to our animals.
  • No refunds of any payments will be made for past, present, or future stays or activities of those who bring unruly, un-house broken, aggressive, or out of control animals.

Community Courtesy & Safety

We appreciate your help in keeping this a comfortable and safe place for everyone.

  • Treat others with respect and be mindful of the people around you.
  • No smoking or vaping inside buildings or near hay, dry vegetation, or other flammable areas. Dispose of all smoking materials safely—we definitely don’t need a wildfire.
  • If you drink alcohol, do so responsibly. Intoxicated or disruptive behavior is never acceptable. Dispose of alcohol and alcohol containers properly and immediately. Do not operate vehicles or machinery under the influence of alcohol. There is absolutely no tolerance for underage drinking.
  • Recreational marijuana is NOT permitted at the Western Diamond Ranch.
  • The Western Diamond Ranch has  zero-tolerance for illicit or illegal drugs.
  • Keep noise to a considerate level so everyone can enjoy themselves.
  • Leave others’ belongings alone. Please don’t touch or move anything that isn’t yours.
  • Please pick up after yourself. Do not leave a mess, especially in community areas.
  • You are responsible for your children and their safety. Never leave your children unattended and make sure they uphold WDR rules.
  • Please be responsible with your water usage.

Thank you for doing your part to help keep the environment safe, respectful, and enjoyable for all!
